UPDATE: After a gas explosion destroyed her candy shop A l’Etoile d’Or in February 2014, it was reported that shop owner Denise Acabo had thrown in the towel and would not be reopening the boutique that drew visitors from around the world. But multiple reports out just today say that Acabo is stocking her shelves for a Nov. 3 reopening! This is a most welcome development for scores of candy fans throughout Paris–and indeed the entire world–who regularly visited Acabo’s renowned shop. Breton Cuisine, Funky Art at Page 35 Restaurant

In the heart of the Marais lies a wonderful Breton restaurant that’s as popular for its food as it is for the rotating exhibitions of artwork by a cadre of international graphic artists that line its colorful walls. Page 35, located just opposite the quaint Square Louis Achille, is a hugely popular neighborhood destination for locals, including many families with children in tow. It’s also a hit with Paris’s LGBT community, often drawing a large crowd of trendy gays and lesbians attracted to Page 35’s funky, contemporary vibe and artistic atmosphere. And despite its prime location near several prominentsight-seeing destinations (the Picasso museum, Place des Vosges, the Musee Carnavalet and the many trendy boutiques on the Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, to name a few), the restaurant is rarely visited by tourists. Radisson Hotels Talks with Our Blogger on ‘Gay Paris’

Radisson Blu hotels, part of the renowned Radisson Hotel chain of properties, is currently conducting an outreach campaign to gay and lesbian travelers. They recently interviewed “Oui Always Have Paris” blogger Bob Adams about LGBT destinations in the City of Light. Bob drew from his experiences through many visits to Paris as well as his upcoming book “Gay Paris: An LGBT Travel Guide to the City of Light,” currently being presented to U.S. publishers for publication in 2016. A Salute to Louis XIV at Place des Victoires

A little-visited but still quite scenic—and historic—site in Paris’s 1st Arrondissement is the Place des Victoires, a circular “square” that was created to honor King Loius XIV. Place des Victoires is a short walk from the more popular Palais Royal, but few tourists make their way to this locale. And that’s mostly because aside from a large statue of Louis in the center of the circle, there’s no real “sight” to see. That’s a shame, because the circle has delightful 17th century architecture and, for history buffs, roots stretching back to the French royal House of Bourbon, and links to the French Revolution and Napoleon Bonaparte. Taste the Dessert Revolution at L’Atelier de l’Eclair

Eclairs today are to Paris what cupcakes have been for the past half-decade to the U.S.—the latest dessert trend.
