** NOTE: France, like the rest of the world, continues to struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic. Many Paris museums, shops, restaurants and tourist destinations either remain closed or have limited hours. All will require masks while indoors. Many also will require proof of vaccination. Please check online information or telephone your intended destination to determine any restrictions. Let’s all help each other through this harrowing period in global history. Merci! **
Today, when thinking about Paris, I was reminded of how fantastic, efficient and affordable the Metro is. There are 14 color-coded lines (although, you need to know the name of the last stop on the line to know which direction to go (i.e., line 1 heads to Nation in the west and Chateau du Vincennes in the east), has more than 300 stations, and is never more than a couple of blocks away, no matter where you are in the city. I love just about everything about it — except those stairs in some of the Metro stations. Oy vey!
Paris has indeed a great (and large) metro network, with some very nice/old stations.
A very nice station is “Cite” on line4 with its curved platform.
Perhaps is our online route planner for the Parisian metro useful:
